Spicebird Beta 0.7.1 Release Notes

Spicebird is a free and open source collaboration client from Synovel. Spicebird simplifies communication for users by providing integrated access to the various tools of collaboration in a single application. It provides easy access to various web services while users can retain all the advantages of a desktop application.

Changes in this release include:

  • Fixed an issue with ICQ/AIM login on Windows
  • Added chat support for languages other than English (UTF-8 fixes)
  • Added chat preferences to:
    • Auto dock chat windows
    • View only online contacts
    • Auto login when Spicebird is started
    • View timestamps
    • Get sound alerts
  • Added option to use Thunderbird style date formatting
  • Added Tango icons for menu items
  • Fixed a nasty memory leak on Windows by removing Google maps applet
  • Fixed a major bug with launching Spicebird on GNU/Linux caused because of dbus launch problem
  • Updated localisations
  • Support GPG encryption and signing with Enigmail (new release with Spicebird support pending)
  • Addon for supporting proprietary Outlook attachment format
  • Better Windows and GNU/Linux desktop integration
  • Js console now available in the menu for easier bug reporting
  • Removed a bogus error shown when creating new chat account
  • Fixed a bug that causes account wizard not to finish in some locale builds
  • Addon for reminding about a missing attachments
  • Fixes for buffer overflows in several Mozilla modules because of incorrect max file path length
  • Changed mail folder applet to show non-English text for subject and sender correctly
  • Fixed a bug that causes incorrect date to be shown in date/time applet

Known Issues

  • Google maps applet on Windows causes memory leaks. Automatic update may not remove Google maps applet. It has to removed manually to avoid memory leaks.
