Nightly Builds for Testing
For quite some time now, we had machines building various varieties of Spicebird every night. These builds are meant for testing code and localizations. English (US) builds are available for Windows 32 bit, GNU/Linux 32 bit and GNU/Linux 64 bit. Installable language packs and GNU/Linux 32/64 bit localized builds are available for all locales that have been checked into the code repository.
Localizers can test full localized builds on GNU/Linux or language packs applied over English (US) build on Windows. In the later case, the locale switcher extension will be needed.
Happy testing! Please report bugs and suggestions to Spicebird issue tracker.

Not that anyone at
Not that anyone at Spicebird.com cares, but I have officially given up on Spicebird. This blog/forum is dead. And the project seems dead. And even if it is still alive, somehow, it looks as if only the automated nightly build is running, with no-one behind the wheel.
Sad, because it looked really promising. But your complete lack of response and any visibility has killed Spicebird for me. Even should you one day release 1.0, I won't be there for the party. Because any bugs or blockers will never get acknowledged or fixed... Very sad.
Ciao.
Why do you say it is dead?
There are still spicebird developers replying on the forums and making changes in the wiki.
It might be slower than you want, but it is not dead.
Spicebird project dead?
Is Spicebird dead? I see some activity with nightly builds, but no-one replies to any posts on this forum. Is the project still alive? And if so, is there a better place to post questions, since no-one seems to follow this forum?
Finally, is there anywhere wherea v8.0pre build for Win32 can be downloaded?
Thanks in advance,
Stuart.
You mention that nightly
You mention that nightly Win32 builds are available, yet the link you provide contains only Linux builds...? Any idea where I might find a 0.8pre build for Win32?
RSS suggestion
Just came across Spicebird, and I'm really impressed. And to think that it's still beta. The one suggestion I'd like to make is for Spicebird's RSS feature to be able to read or access an opml file.
That way you can have just one RSS applet on the home tab. Most people subscribe to more than one RSS feed, and having just one RSS applet is a lot better than having a whole bunch of them cluttering the home page.
Kudos to you guys

Any Update
Please post some update on the 0.7 release or point me to a build where I can see
1. blogs in SB
2. Google Applets
3. Improved IM
I don't see these in the nightly builds
Re: Any updates
Google applets work in this nightly windows build.
IM & Blogs is not yet enabled. Should come up shortly in the nightlies.Â
Keep a watch on the develper blog for more updates on the progress.
the same happens with 32Bit
the same happens with 32Bit XP. It just crashes.
Windows crashes
Hi,
We identified and fixed the bug couple of days back: http://bugzilla.spicebird.org/show_bug.cgi?id=787
The latest one shouldn't be crashing:

thanks, seems to work now.
thanks, seems to work now. but only after i uninstalled the previous build, deleted its folder and the profile folder.
turns out, i have been far
turns out, i have been far too optimistic.
it started, i could load google applets. However, after some minutes, it crashed again. after restarting it crashed within a few seconds. it's a pity, but a centralized pim-app has to bee stable. apart from that, spicebird is on the right way. for your planned document management feature: have you had a look at zotero.org and celtx.com? a combination of those two mozilla apps would be a superb addition to spicebird.
Just a note to let you know
Just a note to let you know that the newer nightly builds crash under Windows XP64, even when running in protected mode (as XP, Win95, etc).
some more updates please
dear spicebird- crew,
we'd really love to hear some more news on your progress and the current status of spicebird.
please be so kind and post something from time to time.
thanks in advance!
Re: some more updates please
Thanks for your interest. We will defanitely be more informative in future.
Regarding the Spicebird 0.7 release, we are long over due with the release and are working to get rid of the stability issues and bugs along with good amount of feature additions.Â
It might take around 2 months time tentatively for the new version to be out. For those who can't wait, try using our nightly builds.
I am using nightly builds,

I have been actively
I have been actively watching the SB nightly builds for the last few months, hoping to see functional implementations of the integrated IM and Google app tools. These tools, along w/ the tabbed interface, were what originally attracted me to this project. I still have hopes of switching to SB as my primary e-mail client (for Windows), but for now I have somewhat given up hope of making that change anytime soon.
some more updates please
I second these comments.
Help - give more news...
Yes - please be more informative. Half a year ago I was informed that version 0.7(8) would be out by mid May (2008???)
It not very serius to be so slow.

@ Kim Ludvigsen
I'm already translating for Spicebird, through their official community. And I have "received" about 80% of the DA from the mozilla projects, through the Spicebird responsible coordinator. But what I wanted was to test my translation in the working spicebird. I have talked to the Spicebird responsible translator coordinator and he will build a da.xpi when I have translated all the collabs.

You should still contact
You should still contact MozillaDanmark. We would like to include Spicebird with the other programs on the homepage. We can help with suggestions for the translation and we can help checking the translation.
